Who am I?

Well, first and foremost, you can call me Autumn!

I'm originally a Florida girl who moved to the United Kingdom for love, stayed because of circumstances, then found love again and have decided to see where life ships me next.

My interest in homesteading grew out of necessity.

When the Covid 19 pandemic hit the United Kingdom in March 2020, seeing the shelves empty for the first time in my short life really prompted me to re-evaluate things. I started baking my own bread. I started making my own fresh pasta sauce. I started growing herbs and veggies in my tiny back garden. Essentially, I started embracing what I'd been denying myself for my entire existence: a simpler, more sustainable life.

Since that time, I've expanded my horizons with regards to homesteading, but I am nowhere near an expert. This website is dedicated to all who aspire to live a more frugal, sustainable, eco-friendly lifestyle without the social media hype and use of scaremongering jargon. I want this page to be simple. I want facts to be well-researched and peer reviewed. I want opinions to be just that - opinions.

This page isn't about "trad" lifestyles or "crunchy" living, but about doing our small part in making our human existence a little less impactful on the planet.

It's about planting native trees, shrubs and grasses. It's about attracting beneficial species to our gardens. It's about being mindful about our own human activities and the harm they can cause to our ecosystems far and wide.

To me, homesteading isn't just about baking bread and tending gardens, it's about adjusting our behaviour as human beings to sustain ourselves and our families, independently of the government, whilst cultivating and fostering our ecological surroundings and bettering our environments, not just for future generations, but for all flora and fauna that are alive today as well.

If even a fraction of this resonates with you - come along with me on my journey! As the website grows, I hope that you'll considering joining in with our growing community and adding your voice so that all current and future homesteaders have a place online they can call their own.
